The Beijing Institute of Aviation Medicine (BIAM) orders AIRFOX® ASD in October 2009. BIAM successfully operates the AMST Human Centrifuge and the continual research into High G physiology, will increase and extend its focus in Spatial Disorientation Research in the future. BIAM will replace its earlier generation 4-DOF SD demonstrator (rotation accelerations only) with AMST’s newest AIRFOX® ASD. The internal scientific evaluation committee concluded that the 6 DOF motion system including continuous yaw, provides the best platform for BIAM’s research activities. Unlike other systems, the motion platform with linear and rotation movement/accelerations, stimulates the equilibrium particularly and prevents false stimulation due to rotations.
The AIRFOX® ASD will be equipped with a wide range of medical monitoring equipment and analysis software, as well supporting BIAM’s research programs.
